How to Volunteer

Our Valued Volunteers

Volunteers play an important part in bringing the community to George Derby Centre. The George Derby Centre volunteers actively assist and support our residents, family members and staff in so many ways.

Our volunteers devote a significant amount of hours to supporting our residents’ personal needs and enhancing their well-being. Their time is spent in a variety of ways including: selling goods in the Gift Shop, assisting on regular community outings, preparing materials in the Art Studio, helping with special events, delivering mail, leading weekly church services, hosting special bingo, performing musical entertainment, providing seamstress services, engaging in one to one visits with residents, and helping with a variety of Recreation programs.

George Derby Centre requires that a Criminal Record Check, general application form, an immunization declaration, and two references are completed as a condition of acceptance into the volunteer program.
